Inscription.

This building from 1671 is named after one of its previous residents, the diplomat Cornelis van der Mijle, son-in-law of Johan van Oldenbarnevelt. From 1747 to The French Period, the property was used as lodging house for the cities of Hoorn, Monnickendam, Medemblik, Edam and Purmerend, who housed their representatives for the meeting of the States of Holland here. In 1749, Huis van der Mijle was thoroughly renovated. An extra floor was added and the facade got its current appearance. The house was restored in the late 1970s and is currently part of the building complex of the Council of State.
