Andy's Meat Market at 102 N. Deadwood was built in 1907 by Andy Ricketts. Andy Ricketts' mother Louisa Ricketts was the original owner of the lot. Widowed during the Civil War, she had come to South Dakota in 1878 and was the owner of a confectionary store, millinery store and the Fort Pierre Hotel. Andy Ricketts purchased George Mathieson's meat market (Exchange Meat Market on Main Avenue) in 1907. He operated Andy's Meat Market until his death in 1949. His son, George Ricketts, operated Andy's Meat Market until 1969 when George Middleton bought it and it became Butcher Boy. In later years, it was used by the Cowboy Inn/Rock'n R Bar, the Fort Pierre Times newspaper, a taxidermy shop, and two different electricians' offices. , The building was purchased in 2019 by Ryan and Tessa Krueger and remodeled for the CHALK Preschool and Krueger Contracting office. Maier Meats Hangout rented the building in 2022.
