Inscription. Construction of this house started in 1901 by W.H. Conner, however after his death in 1902, the construction was carried out by his wife Constance. The house itself was finished in 1906 and Constance lived there till her passing in 1939. W.H. Conner also owned a store in town, but his store was in constant competition Kribs store. To get leg up in their competition it is said that Mr. Conner built this house in the middle of the old Main street to divert traffic and line of sight away from Krib's store to his. After the Conners moved out, the Palmier's family moved in for several years. The house remained residential for most of its history, but has also been a boarding house and bed and breakfast. It was one of the first houses in Prairie du Rocher to be plumbed for gas lighting. Today, the foundation and a lot of the house is still original material.Currently the house is owned by Connie Stellhorn and serves as a Bed & Breakfast for Prairie du Rocher's visiting guests.
