1. Archaeology Finds Our Past Marker
Inscription.
Archaeologists excavated numerous areas during the construction of Bienville Basin. They found the remains of buildings, outhouses, and backyards that belonged to churches, stores, and private homes. Their investigations, census data, and historic maps provide a look at this area's history during the mid-to-late 19th century. Modest income families occupied this working-class neighborhood.
The artifacts capture the daily lives of the people who lived here as well as their personal tastes. Relaxation and leisure are evident in the smoking pipe and ginger beer bottle. The tooth brush and pitcher display attentiveness to personal hygiene.
