Overview (in translation): Guillaume (Willem) Groen van Prinsterer (Voorburg, August 21, 1801 - The Hague, May 19, 1876), son of the State Councilor Petrus Jacobus Groen van Prinsterer and Adriana Hendrika Caan, was an anti-revolutionary Dutch politician and historian.(Submitted on May 28, 2023.)
Groen van Prinsterer was cabinet secretary (1829-1836), a member of the Constitutional Review Chamber (1840) and a member of the House of Representatives (1849-1857, 1862-1866).

Opposed both the policy of William II and the realization of the Constitutional Revision in 1848. Was in favor of a Protestant Netherlands governed on biblical principles. Aspired to a public denominational school in 1850 and left the House of Representatives (for a few years) after the adoption of the Primary Education Act 1857. Returned several times later.
