Petrus Franciscus Laroo
Amsterdam, 7 juli 1911 - Amsterdam, 2 december 1944

(English translation:)

Municipal civil servant Piet Laroo and his wife Cor Laroo-Marinus were involved in the aiding those who had gone underground during the war. Under the name of George Duller, Piet led a group of resistance fighters, mostly friends of the Workers Youth Central, who later joined the Vrije Groepen Amsterdam. From their house on the Herengracht, they provided people in hiding were with ration cards and forged identity cards. Laroo was also a co-founder of the Rolls Royce courier and intelligence service. In 1944 he resigned as a civil servant to devote himself entirely to the resistance. Moral support for people in hiding was also seen as a necessity. At the end of that year he died in an accident on his way to an illegal meeting. His wife continued their work. In the late 1970s, she was awarded the Yad Vashem award by the State of Israel for their resistance.
