1. New Switzerland II Marker
Inscription. The N.C. & St.L. Railroad, Frank DeWitt Smith, son of Byron and Eliza Smith, and developer J.C. Propst devised a plan to build an intentional community southwest of the old Hohenwald.

Advertisements on trains appealed to Swiss immigrants to move to Tennessee and help create a Switzerland in America, however, immigrants from several European countries moved here to form New Switzerland. This street was originally known as Tell Street in the New Switzerland Township.
