Kapelhuis / Chapel House
(English translation:)
Around 1500, the chapel house was built for the 'Brotherhood of Our Dear Lady'. The Brotherhood organized the worship services in the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe chapel for the many pilgrims who had come to Amersfoort since the discovery of a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary.
The distinctive Gothic brick facade was restored in 1905, with the angled pinnacles in the gable top again crowned with sandstone finials.
From 1960 to 1990 'Galerie het Kapelhuis' (“Gallery of the Chapel House”) was located here, where Hyke Koopmans, Margje van Blitterswijk and Maria van Kesteren developed the leading gallery for applied arts in the Netherlands.
Erected 2021.
