Inscription.
Albert Cuyp 1620- 1691

(English translation:)

He received painting lessons from his father, the landscape painter Jacob Gerritszoon Cuyp. From 1650 he developed his own style: Dutch, but also exotic, Italian-inspired landscapes, river views, sea and equestrian paintings. He had never been to Italy, but his paintings still have a southern, sunny atmosphere.

Aelbert Jacobszoon Cuyp (20 October 1620 – 15 November 1691) was one of the leading Dutch Golden Age painters, producing mainly landscapes. The most famous of a family of painters, the pupil of his father, Jacob Gerritszoon Cuyp, he is especially known for his large views of Dutch riverside scenes in a golden early morning or late afternoon light.
