1. Brontė Family (Wikipedia).
Overview: The Brontės were a nineteenth-century literary family, born in the village of Thornton and later associated with the village of Haworth in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. The sisters, Charlotte (18161855), Emily (18181848) and Anne (18201849), are well-known poets and novelists. Like many contemporary female writers, they published their poems and novels under male pseudonyms: Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell. Their stories attracted attention for their passion and originality immediately following their publication. Charlotte's Jane Eyre was the first to know success, while Emily's Wuthering Heights, Anne's The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and other works were accepted as masterpieces of literature later.(Submitted on June 10, 2023.)
2. How Brussels Changed The Brontės Forever (AnneBronte.org).
Overview: On this day in 1842 two British girls were settling down to a life that was completely alien to the one they had known. They were four hundred miles from home, in a country where the language was alien to them and the Catholic atmosphere just as foreign. They were of course Charlotte Brontė and Emily Brontė, who arrived at the Pensionnat Heger school in Brussels on 15th February 178 years ago. Today well look at how this Belgian adventure affected Charlotte, Emily and Anne.(Submitted on June 10, 2023.)
