Cantante, compositor, e intérprete destacado de la música latina. Cultivó variedad de géneros y estilos, desde los ritmos tropicales del son y la guaracha hasta el bolero y la canción romantica. Inicia su travectoria musical en su nativo, Ponce en la Escuela Libre de Música de Ponce (Instituto Juan Morel Campos). A sus 17 años, se traslada a Nueva York donde empezó su carrera profesional como persusionista con el grupo "Ciro Rimac's Review".

Luego trabajó con la orquesta de Tito Rodríguez, después como conguero con el Conjunto Marianaxi dirigido por el maestro Luis Cruz y como percusionista con la orquesta de "Kako y su Trabuco". Inicia su trayectoría como vocalista con el Sexteto de Joe Cuba quien obtuvo sus primeros exitos en la radio.

Después de un retiro de tres años, su carrera se reactivo con una grabación histórica titulada Cheo Rompiendo todos los récords, "con el sello Vaya", tuvo exitos con canciones como "Anacaona", "Mi triste problema", "Pa que afinquen" y "Si por mi llueve". Recibió premios por su esfuerzo, entre ellos el Front Page Award del periódico New York Daily News.

En 1990 graba cinco discos con el productor, Ralph Mercado. Los feelings de Cheo, "Cantando, Motivos (en el que se adentró en el genero del bolero), Un solo beso y Una voz… mil recuerdos, un homenaje a las figuras más legendarias de la música latinoamericana.

[English translation:]
Singer, songwriter, and prominent performer of Latin music. He cultivated a variety of genres and styles, from the tropical rhythms of son and guaracha to bolero and romantic songs. He began his musical travectoría in his native Ponce at the Escuela Libre de Música de Ponce (Juan Morel Campos Institute). At the age of 17, he moved to New York where he began his professional career as a percussionist with the group "Ciro Rimac's Review".

He later worked with the Tito Rodríguez orchestra, later as a conguero with the Marianaxi Conjunto directed by maestro Luis Cruz and as a percussionist with the "Kako y la Trabuco de él" orchestra. He begins his career as a vocalist with the Joe Cuba Sextet who obtained his first hits on the radio.

After a three-year retirement, his career was reactivated with a historic recording titled Cheo Breaking all records, "with the Vaya label", he had hits with songs like "Anacaona", "My sad problem", "Pa que afinquen"

and "If it rains for me". He received awards for his efforts, including the Front Page Award from the New York Daily News.

After recording several albums with the Fania label, in 1983 he founded his recording company, Coche Records.

In 1990 he recorded five albums with the producer, Ralph Mercado. Cheo's feelings, "Singing, Reasons (in which he delved into the bolero genre), A single kiss and A voice… thousand memories, a tribute to the most legendary figures of Latin American music.
