Overview (in translation): Stephanus Laurentius Neale (Suriname, December 6, 1688 - Scheveningen, November 2, 1762) was one of the most successful plantation owners in Suriname. He introduced coffee in that country. His nickname in Suriname was The Richest of the Rich.(Submitted on June 12, 2023.)
His wealth: In 1757 his property was inventoried. He then owned the plantations of La Rencontre, New Levant, Tyronne on the Orlean creek and Second Mocha on the Cottica. In total he had 220,000 coffee trees, 200 fields of sugar cane and 457 slaves.
