He began building this ‘Greek Revival’ style house in 1870 and, on 7 Jan 1871, was deeded the property by Judge J.P. Swann on the conditions that he build a “good and comfortable house, which is almost complete, and that he get married.”
Hill was born in Jefferson County 25 Aug 1842 lived out his live in this house and died here 26 Sept 1918. (Marker Number 37.)
