Inscription.  
Gilo como le llamadan sus tropas, obtuvo sus alas de piloto cuando ingresó a la real fuerza aerea inglesa antes de 1941. Como parte del cuerpo aéreo de Estados Unidos voló más de 250 misiones durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Gilo, bautizó su P-47 El Gallo de Yauco. En 1947 regresó a Puerto Rico como capitán. Fue cofundador de la Puerto Rico Air National Guard en la Base Aérea Muñiz.

Gilo as he was known to his troops, earned his pilot wings when he joined England's Royal Air Force prior to World War II in 1941. As part of the United States Air Corps, he flew over 250 missions. Gilo named his P-47 El Gallo de Yauco. In 1947 he returned to Puerto Rico as captain and was co-founder of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard in Base Aérea Muñoz.
