1. Stephen Jewett House Marker
Inscription.
Greek Revival style house built for Stephen Jewett (1805-1862), native of Maine, Cabinetmaker and cashier for the Bank of Wilmington; and wife, Lucy A. Bradley (1819-1898). Remained in family for forty-seven years. In 1989 saved for preservation by Historic Wilmington Foundation and moved from 305 North Fourth Street.

Two-story, hip roof house with hip roof porch. Side passage entry has transom and sidelights. This house was moved to this location in 1990 but is contributing due to its continued urban setting.

1830's as U.S. postmaster. Jewett wed Lucy Anna Bradley, the daughter of officer of the Bank of Cape Fear (signed it's money) Richard Bradley, Jr. Stephen Jewett, IV, cashier, signed Bank of Wilmington money as "S. Jewett".
