Grass Lake Charter Township in Jackson County, Michigan — The American Midwest (Great Lakes)
Michigan Central Railroad Train #6
Michigan Central's 4-4-0 locomotive #6 was built in 1877. It was renumbered to #156 in 1897.
MCRR locomotive #6 was rebuilt and modernized in October 1902 and retired in 1922.
The steep ramp in the background was constructed so that horse-drawn wagons filled with harvested crops were able to dump their loads into the elevator from high above.
It appears that the two locomotives behind 6 may have been involved in a minor collision and are about to be hauled into Jackson for repairs.
