United Theater (early 20th century): Since the closing of the nineteenth-century Bliven's Opera House in the Main Street neighborhood, just south of the Downtown District, this straightforward, two story brick theater has served as an entertainment center for the Westerly area. Two-story brick pilasters below a simple cornice articulate the facade into three bays; a projecting marquee at the central bay identifies the main entrance. The theater was designed for the state presentations as well as motion pictures.(Submitted on June 26, 2023, by Devry Becker Jones of Washington, District of Columbia.)
