Dr. Edwin L. Stephens, first president of SLII, planted oak trees on campus on January 1, 1901.
The first campus building, known initially as the Main Building, was completed in June 1901.
SLII opened on September 18, 1901, with 100 students
In 1903, 18 students were the first to graduate from SLII and the Alumni Association was formed.
The Vermillion student newspaper, was first published in 1904.
Erected 2000 by Alumni and Friends of the University.
