Overview (in translation): The old town hall on the corner of Nedre Slottsgate and Rådhusgata (Nedre Slottsgate 1) was Christiania's first town hall, built in 1641 . The building is made of rough brick on two floors, with a high salt roof. It is protected.

Built in 1641 by councilor Lauritz Hansen with a contribution from the king. Stately house with tower and stepped gables. Here the magistrate and the courts were given space, and the prison was located in the basement. The building was the city's only large public venue and was used for parties and a theatre. From 1739 it was a private residence. 1785-1803 it belonged to the Masonic Lodge. The Supreme Court had premises here 1821-46. In 1856, the house was sold to a restaurateur, and a restaurant has been run in the building ever since. For a number of years, the Technical Association held its meetings in the building, and it was nicknamed Teknikken. From 1891-1940 the Freemasons (Polestar system) were again the owners. The attic floor was furnished for the Theater Museum in 1981. The building was heavily damaged by fire inside in the spring of 1996 and has since been restored. - Selskabet For Oslo Byes Vel
