1. Two Worlds Marker
Inscription. You stand between two worlds Magnolia's physical landscape is divided into two distinct but interrelated spaces-Main House and Quarters. The buildings are arranged for both function and aesthetics and illustrate how the meaning of a place can differ as each person sees through their own lens and experiences.

The Main House landscape was primarily the domain of the planter family, their friends, and business associates. In addition to the house and formal gardens there were buildings that supported daily life in the house. Within and beyond the Main House walls enslaved, and later paid, workers labored to make the planter lifestyle possible.

The Quarters landscape was mostly the domain of the workers, enslaved and tenant, whose labors contributed to the development, success, and wealth of the plantation. In addition to the Quarters were buildings that supported agricultural production including the Blacksmith Shop and Gin.
