Inscription.
Erected and dedicated to the principals of patriotism. True patriotism is the foundation upon which this nation of ours must stand. Patriotism is not alone the privilege of adults; but belongs to the youth, if our country is to live.

Rededicated, this 26th day of May, 1997, in the spirit of patriotism, to honor those veterans who so proudly served our country.
 
Erected 1939 by American Legion Post 2378.

More about this memorial. The marker is located in Mraz Park, a small park located where Oak Park Avenue, Riverside Drive and 23rd Street intersect. There are actually two plaques surrounding the flagpole, the east-facing one from 1939 and a newer one from 1997 facing west. A Ladies Auxiliary insignia is posted above the 1997 monument.
