Inscription.
The Village of Barboursville honors all her military sons and daughters and all other veterans everywhere, who have faithfully served the United States of America in times of peace and in times of war. We are extremely proud of all our veterans.

We salute all veterans that were faithful to answer the call whenever our government asks them to serve their country in one of the branches of military service. All veterans gave some-some gave all.

We salute all veterans that have successfully completed basic training, where every soldier is taught first to follow orders and is then taught to work as a team and unit, every soldier then is sent to serve at one of our military installations bases, or stations somewhere in the US. Or some place around the world until they complete their tour of duty.

We salute those veterans that have followed orders that required them to leave this country and their family, friends, and loved-ones, to fight or serve in a distant land. It's never easy to leave home - especially if going into combat and its not known if you'll return alive or well.

We salute those veterans that have faced enemy fire and especially those soldiers that have been wounded in battle and have shed their blood in defense of our country. (Purple Heart Medal)

We salute also those

veterans that while serving in the military received wounds, injuries, or stress, that resulted in physical and/or mental disabilities. (Disabled American Veterans-DAV) (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD)

We salute the veterans that were captured and made prisoners of war by the enemy. We also shall never forget the unknown soldiers and those heroes that are still listed as missing in action. (POW and MIA)

And finally, we salute the thousands of veterans that paid the ultimate sacrifice by giving their own lives, so that we might live in peace and freedom in Barboursville and every town in the United States of America.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

Welcome home veterans
