Regarding Site of the First Bank in Richlands. Excerpt from the National Register nomination for the Richlands Historic District, which includes this site as a contributing property:
Two-story, hip-roof, coursed cobblestone, double commercial building has arch-headed sash windows (replaced) with arched transoms and keystones. At the first-floor are replaced storefronts flanking the center door. The two storefronts have been altered with infill and added roofs, but the overall character has been maintained. The building was originally built as a bank by the development company it later housed, Richlands National Bank, which operated until 1955 when it became the Bank of Tazewell.
