1. Notable 19th & 20th Century Downtown Chelsea Fires Marker
Inscription. 1. 1894 & 1906: Vogel's Blacksmith Shop Total loss in 1894/Minor damage in 1906

2. 1902: Michigan Central Railroad Fires Multiple structures lost including the Water Tower, Beam from water tower salvaged and used in home at 154 E. Middle in 1903.

3. 1918 Bolmes Onion Warehouse Building filled with onions and apples. Cause believed to be overheated store used to keep the stock from freezing.

4. 1918 & 1970 Wilkinsonia building Heydliauff's Frigid Products Damage by fire in 1918 and restored. Burned in 1970 and demolished. Replaaced with one story structure. Original building was office of Citizens Stove Company.

9. 1947: Central Fiber 1920 Sawtooth building as well as a newer building on Main Street destroyed.

10. 1985: Sylvan Hotel Fire started in tenant room resulting in two fatalities.

11. 1962: Green Residence (former Boyd House) On 128 Jackson Street the small fire was confined to the bedroom. The house is now the Chelsea Area Historical Museum.

12. 1912: Foster's Plumbing Shop Flat iron burned through second floor to main shop below in the Hatch/Durand block.

13. 1909: Holmes & Walker Building a total loss with damage to adjoining buildings.

14. 1894: Glazier Stove Works Main Street store, and First Congregational Church and parsonage on 135 E. Middle St. a total

15. Babcock Residence Located on 135 E. Middle Street adjacent to Boyd House. It was a total loss.

16.1920: Boyd Hotel Fire damage to first floor.
