Excerpt (in translation): Born on November 7, 1925 in Bagnolet, René Alazard abandoned his studies in June 1940 and found a job as a charcoal maker in the forest of Champigny. In February 1944, he joined the Free French forces in the 7th arrondissement (South of the Seine sector). With this group, he took part in the battles for the liberation of Paris. On August 24, 1944 at 6 p.m., he was killed by a burst of machine gun fire at the Pont de l'Alma.
