1. Cumberland County Illinois Marker
Inscription. This, the second Cumberland County Courthouse, erected in 1887, is located on this site in the approximate geographical center of Cumberland County. This site was formerly occupied by the first courthouse, which was built in 1855 and was destroyed by fire on the night of November 3-4, 1885, resulting in a loss of all records and contents. The second courthouse was erected at the direction of the County Board of Supervisors.
