Inscription. Frank B. Butler and his company College Park Realty Co. established Butler's Beach Subdivision in 1947. At that time, it was the only African-American beach between American Beach in Duval County and Daytona Beach in Volusia County. Butler's Beach boasted a subdivision and a resort, which included a bathhouse, Inn, and casino. The streets in the area reflect Butler family names. In addition to Butler Avenue, Mary Street was named for his mother, Minnie Street for his wife and daughter, Rudolph Avenue was named for his grandson, and Glorida Street was named for his granddaughter.
