Excerpt (in translation): Built in 1640 as a residence for town bailiff Mads Haraldssøn. The house was badly damaged during Charles XII's siege in 1716 and repaired in 1718 without the original gables and stair tower.

Treasurer Kølle took over the property in 1727. In 1740, he was convicted of embezzlement, and the property forfeited to the King, who gave it to the municipality as an intended foster home. There was no money for the operation, so the house went to private owners.

In 1778, the King took it over for the second time, and the Christiania Fostering House Foundation was established. It was to be a home for 50 poor boys and girls from the age of six to confirmation age. With the house came a fruit and herb garden which they kept until Bankplassen was laid out in the 1820s.

In 1917, the foster home moved to Store Ullevål, and the building was taken over by Mustad & Søn.
