Inscription. This memorial depicts wars as they have impacted this county, state and nation. Freedom has never been free, it never will be. Part of the price of freedom will be realized as you visit this memorial. These hallowed grounds are dedicated to the memory of those Union Countians who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country during a war time period. We honor all those men and women who gave of themselves in an effort to ensure freedom and democracy throughout the world. May God bless America. November 11, 1995
