Significance Statement:
The property meets the criteria for HCM designation because it reflects the broad cultural, political, economic or social history of the nation, state, or community, for its association with the residential development of Crestwood Hills, the largest cooperative development in California. Developed by the Mutual Housing Association, the design cooperative brought together many of the leading figures in post-war Southern California modernism, including architects A. Quincy Jones (1913-1979) and Whitney R. Smith (1911-2002), who worked together on a collection of homes in Crestwood Hills between 1947 and 1950. Noted engineer Edgardo Contini (1914-1990) was brought on as well.
