Regarding Chesbro Building. California Department of Parks & Recreation Historic Resources Form regarding significance:
The modifications have not been sensitive to the classical order of textures and form this structure once possessed. This is none the less an important structure in Gilroy revealing what may have been present prior to stripping and stuccoing so many structures. One of the larger structures on the center of the block keeps the rhythm of two story structures and anchors the attractive single story structures that adjoin this building.
