In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Philadelphia Electric Company and the Lighting of Forty-nine Arc Lamps On Chestnut Street from The Delaware River to the Schuylkill River
A century later, this plaque was placed at the southwest corner of Chestnut and 10th Streets, in the shadow of the companys original headquarters. The ceremonies recognized the role of the electric utility industry in advancing the growth and development of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Erected 1991 by Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
