architect Frank Lloyd Wright to build an entrance gate for his six-acre estate on the Desplaines River, after Waller sold part of the land to William Winslow. Six concrete sections and two metal gates remain from the original gates. Replicas of the original lanterns were added to the gate in a partial restoration that was completed in 2008.

William Winslow's Wright-designed home, the famed architect's first major independent commission, is visible from the Waller Gates entrance. Completed in 1894, the home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

From the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservatory: “Six rock-face, cut-limestone pylons—set on concrete base skirts and topped with dressed-stone caps—and two metal fence sections remain from what was once the impressive entrance gate Wright designed for Edward C. Waller, one of Wright’s earliest patrons, for his six-acre estate along the Des Plaines River. The gates, which have been partially restored with replicas of the original lanterns, were originally constructed after Waller sold a portion of his land to William Winslow. In 1893 Wright designed a residence for Winslow that stands just inside the gateway.”
