1. Town of Meridian Hills Marker
Inscription. Wellington Estates and Wellington Park Heights, carved out of the 97 acre Van Scyoc family farm, was subdivided in 1923 by Oscar Schmidt, founder of Wellington Estates Realty Co. In 1924, a model home was built at 95 Wellington Road. This New England Colonial Home was the first house built in the neighborhood. Bounded on the west by Spring Mill Road, east by Meridian Street, south by Holliday Park and north by Meridian Hills Country Club, the neighborhood was marketed as “North Beyond the River on Meridian.” In 1937 it was included in the incorporation of the Town of Meridian Hills.
