Ann Murphy Cottage
Ann Murphy Cottage honors the name of the widow Ann Murphy (1731-1814) one of the most influential and devoted among the founders of Methodism in Uniontown and vicinity. Active with her husband in organizing Methodist societies in Maryland, she continued her good work when she moved in 1781, to the Uniontown area.
Mother Murphy was famous for the hospitality of her home to itinerate preachers, among them Bishop Asbury.
Funds to renovate the cottage into the campus library, meeting lounge and museum were given by G. E. Clifton of Leechburg as a memorial to his wife, Mrs. Ivy Clifton.
