On this site, from 1919 to 1984, stood the Garden Court Apartments. The magnificent Beaux Arts style building boasted two lavish ballrooms, a billiards room, tennis courts and a pool, with Persian-style carpets and baby grand pianos in every suite. Hollywood personalities who lived here included Louis B. Mayer (founder of Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer Studios): Mack Sennett (founder of Keystone Pictures Studio, famed producer of "Keystone Cops" comedies); silent film stars Lillian Gish and Mae Murray; Italian actor Rudolph Valentino; and silver screen idol John Barrymore.

On this site, from 1919 to 1985, stood the Garden Court Apartments. The magnificent Italian Renaissance structure boasted Oriental carpets and baby grand pianos in every suite; also two lavish ballrooms, billiards room, tennis courts and pool. Hollywood personalities who lived here included: Louis B. Mayer (of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer), Mack Sennett (creator of the Keystone Cops), Lillian Gish, Rudolph Valentino, John Barrymore and Mae Murray.
