Inscription. Originally a four-story building, the Classical facade was added in the 1920s. In 1935, the top three stories were removed to create the building as it is today. Hollywood's most prolific builder, C.E. Toberman, established his first office in an earlier building at this site. Over a 70-year period, he erected 29 commercial buildings in Hollywood, including the Chinese Theatre, El Capitan Theatre, and Roosevelt Hotel.
