1. Veterans' Memorial Marker
The service flag for the veteran honored in the display case flies at half-mast during the week when that veteran is honored. On August 30, 2023, the lowered flag at the far left was for the Army, as the memorial honored World War II Army veteran Tony Provenzano.

into each monument and its flag in front of it. In front of the U.S. flag at the center of the memorial is a display case that honors a local veteran. Hoffman Estates swaps out the veteran every Sunday at 1 p.m. with a flag rotation ceremony. The service flag of the veteran being honored flies at half-mast for that week.
 
Regarding Veterans' Memorial. When the memorial was visited on August 30, 2023, Army veteran Tony Provenzano was being honored in the display case. A Chicago native, Provenzano served in the Army from 1943 through 1946; he was a medic on a ship during the D-Day invasion of 1944. In 1956, he and his family moved to Hoffman Estates, then a newly developing suburb about 30 miles northwest of Chicago, where he remained until his death in 2017.
