1. Stone Boat Marker
Inscription.

Once a piece of stone was cut to size, the "STONE BOAT" (sled) was used to transport it to the construction site. After loading the stone onto the boat utilizing the "DERRICK," this sled-like implement would be harnessed to a horse and taken to the desired site. The two hardwood runners were not only very durable, but they would ensure that no sparks were produced while dragging it across rough terrain. This sled was economical to build and simple to repair in comparison with a wagon or wheeled cart.
