1. Gorst Field Marker
Inscription. This fountain, sponsored by Ideal Cement Company, is dedicated to the nation's pioneer commercial air mail pilots. Direct scheduled commercial air line service in Seattle was established when a Travelair bi-plane, carrying 12,000 letters, landed here on September 15, 1926. Then known as Gorst Field, it had been used earlier by the Boeing Company as a base for test flights.
 
Erected 1966 by Seattle Historical Society.
