1. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Marker
Inscription. This grand structure stands as a testament to the faith and fortitude of Key West’s diverse community. Three previous churches on this historic site were destroyed by hurricanes in 1846, 1909 and the Great Fire of 1886. The current concrete church structure, completed in 1919, was designed to withstand the ravages of nature and time and as a beacon of faith for the community. The stained glass windows of the church represents 80 years of American stain glass artistry.
