at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty
while engaged in an action against an enemy
of the United States.

Presented in the name of the Congress
by the President of the United States.

Established by the Congress, approved by
President Abraham Lincoln December 21, 1861.

The Medal of Honor commonly known as the
Congressional Medal of Honor is the nation's
highest military award for bravery.
