L'actualment anomenat Palau de Mar és un edifici projectat el 1881 i construit fonamentalment entre 1895 i 1902 com a dipòsit comercial. Posteriorment va rebre el nom de Magatzem General del Comerç. És un edifici tipic de l'arquitectura portuària del segle XIX i actualment és la seu del Museu d'Història de Catalunya i també del Pier-01, espai de promoció de l'ocupació en noves tecnologies de l'associació Barcelona Tech City. A la planta baixa hi ha diferents restaurants turístics. L'edifici està catalogat com a Bé Cultural d'Interès Local.

El actualmente denominado Palau de Mar es un edificio proyectado en 1881 y construido fundamentalmente entre 1895 y 1902 como depósito comercial. Posteriormente recibió el nombre de Almacenes Generales de Comercio. Es un edificio típico de la arquitectura portuaria del siglo XIX y actualmente es la sede del Museo de Historia de Cataluña y también del Pier-01, espacio de promoción de nuevas tecnologías de la Asociación Barcelona Tech City. En la planta baja hay ubicados diferentes restaurantes. El edificio está catalogado como un Bien Cultural

The building currently called Palau de Mar is a building designed in 1881 and built primarily between 1895 and 1902 as a commercial warehouse. It was later renamed Magatzem General del Comerç (General Trade Warehouse). It is built in typical 19th century port architecture and is currently the home of the History Museum of Catalonia and Pier-01, a space for promoting employment in new technologies of the Barcelona Tech City association. On the ground floor are various tourist restaurants. It is a Cultural Asset of Local Interest listed building.
