Our First Church
On July 16, 1925 (at Parole, Maryland) Reverend J.J. Cecil, a retired minister of the former Washington Conference and a member of Asbury Quarterly Conference-Annapolis, conceived for a Methodist Church in Parole.
Not contented with a dream, Rev. Cecil transformed his vision into reality by organizing Asbury Methodist Church in an abandoned, dilapidated canning factory and used orange crates as seats.
Rev. E.A. Love, the pastor of Asbury Church in Annapolis, advised Rev. and Mrs. Cecil to move the rapidly growing Sunday School into the Cecil's home. Services and Sunday School of this new church were held there until May 1926, when the church secured a more comfortable place for ten dollars ($10.00) a month.
