heavyweight title from Floyd Patterson in 1962. In 1964 he sought
to retain his belt in a much publicized fight against a young,
brash up-and-comer named Cassius Clay, Jr. A huge underdog in
the fight, Clay defeated Liston, who failed to answer the bell for
the 7th round. In their rematch, Clay scored a first round knockout.
Liston's pro fight record was 50 wins & 4 losses, 39 wins by KO.
