1. The Mansion Marker
Inscription. An earlier house stood on this site which was the home of Edward Tylney, Master of the Revels to Queen Elizabeth I who dined here with him on 3rd August 1591. The present house dates from 1739 and for part of the 19th century it was The Mansion Grammar School. It then reverted to a private house until 1950 when it became the Public Library. It became a Register Office in 2000.
