1. Shiloh Community Marker
Inscription. Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church
Established in 1867, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church has long been the heart of the Shiloh Community. The church provided educational, economic, and spiritual growth for its members through the actions of its pastors and community leaders.

First located under a bush arbor at Major Weaver's property, the church moved to its current location in 1873 under Reverend Lewis Hackney.

From there, the church became the headquarters for leadership in the community, acting as a public school for churchgoers and providing much needed economic guidance for members purchasing land in the area for people to set up their own farms.

These functions continue through to the present day, bringing its members and families together to continue the Shiloh Community's legacy.

Education is very important to members of the Shiloh Community, and in the late 1800s a small schoolhouse was built near Shiloh Baptist Church. Schoolteachers served the community by instructing boys and girls in reading, writing, arithmetic, physical education and penmanship.

Although the school and church operated separately, their close proximity created a center of activity in the community. This relationship was strengthened by Reverend James

In the early 1900s the Shiloh Community Center replaced the school house. However, the location has retained its use as a community gathering space for activities and social functions.
