At age 21, Patterson became the youngest world heavyweight champion in history at the time by defeating Archie Moore in 1956. In 1960, he lost his title to Ingmar Johansson. He beat Johansson in their rematch, becoming the first heavyweight to regain the title after losing it. He faced Ali in 1965, losing a twelve round decision. His record stands as 55 wins, 8 losses & 1 draw - 40 wins by knockout.
