Inscription. The First Baptist Church traces its roots back to the Bethany Baptist Church formed in 1866. With Morrisville's incorporation in 1875, many members moved into the growing town and formed another church. The congregation chose the popular Gothic Revival style for a chapel they erected in 1900 and adorned it with the decorative sawn work similar to that seen on other houses in Morrisville. A brick veneer was added in the 1980s.

One of the church's members, Vallie Page Green, became a missionary to China starting in 1891 and served until advancing Japanese military forced her to leave in 1934.
