A Marine Rifleman, Jimie had wanted to be a Marine for as long as he could remember. He died a Marine in combat at age 19, just a few short months after enlisting and completing training. He was also awarded the NYS Conspicuous Service Award posthumously.
His name is inscribed on the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, DC.
